Motivation Speeches

IT'S NOT LATE, DON'T GIVE UP

Many a times we tend to lose hope and think we are doomed, let's take a few minutes to read this article about Abraham Lincoln, I know you are  going to change your perspective of taking things, I have prepared this in order to encourage our friends, I know it will be useful to us all.

Abraham Lincoln, born on 12/2/1809, second born to Thomas and Nancy Hanks. Like societal  expectation , Lincoln was a husband to Mary Todd, Father to Robert, Edward (died at 7)  , Willie and Thomas Tad (also died at childhood)

Lincoln was a Republican and the 16th President of USA from 1860 and was assassinated one year later in April 1861,  laid to rest in Lincoln Tomb, Oak Ridge Cemetery, Springfield., Illinois.

He led USA into civil war, it's bloodiest war and perhaps it's greatest moral constitutional and political crisis. In doing so, he preserved the union, abolished  slavery, strengthened the federal government and modernized the economy.

That aside, here is his brief history, I really like it because it really defines an ordinary person like me and you who is going through the daily challenges of life. Let's see:
When he was 22 yrs old, he tried business and failed. At 23, Lincoln ran for legislation and was defeated. Strong enough, at 24,he tried business once more but was all in vain.

When Lincoln turned 25, he was elected to the Legislature, thanks be to God Almighty. At 26,Lincoln lost his sweetheart, May the soul of Mary rest in eternal peace. This, like to anybody,  is a big set back,. But life must continue, who cares. At 27, Lincoln suffered a terrible nervous breakdown (melancholy) but thanks to master healer, he recovered and as if nothing had happened, he went back to politics, true gentleman and real leader.

At 29,  he contested for the post of speaker but terribly lost. At 31,Lincoln contest again but was unsuccessful, he lost. Three years later, he tried again and lost again.  At 34, actually same year, Lincoln contested but was elected this time round, congratulations Mr Loser.

Five years later, he tried  for Congress but lost the bid. When he was 46, contested for Senator but lost. Without giving up, and as if he hadn't started politics, he tried a year later, this time gunning for the position of Vice President and was defeated.

Two years later, at 49,he contested again for position of Senator and lost. God is watching, never lose hope in life, no matter how many times you have setbacks, you will lose friends, they will call you names, all  the good things  you did will be forgotten but remember one main success God has preserved for you will be a cleaner of all the failures you had.

Good news is, finally in 1860,Abraham Lincoln was elected the 16th President, he made it to the highest political position in the world.  Remember the devil is also watching and everything you do keep God first, God was with him and he was successful, but could his enemies allow him to proper?  Of course not and the bad news is that on Good Friday 11/4/1861, Abraham Lincoln was assassinated at Ford's Theatre in Washington DC by John Mikes Borth, an actor who somehow thought he was helping the South, thanks to God he later regretted his acts.

He remains my political point of reference, his leadership  and his quotes are all a lovable ones. His and my favorite quote was "With malice towards no one, with charity for all, with firmness to the right, let's strive to finish the work we are in to bind up the nation's wounds.

In crowning this work, I say, challenges in life are necessary as they make us grow and your existence is an evidence that this generation is looking for something that your life contains.

Special tributes to Jackson Owino, Erick Opingo ( Author of YOU ARE THE ANSWER TO YOUR GENERATIONS)
Orima Mc Samuel,  Mr Joseph Ogutu and the entire Rapogi High School fraternity  for making a man and leader out me.

"Our future is not tied to our past at all, Our tomorrow is in our hands and yesterday has no power over it. No person can accomplish what you were born to accomplish in this world."
God bless you all
